Technician GPS not showing on dispatch map
Fix location tracking issues for field technicians.
Has the tech downloaded the mobile app?
GPS tracking only works through the AlwaysRespond technician mobile app. If the tech is logging in through a browser, their location won't appear. Make sure they've downloaded the app (iOS or Android) and are signed in with their AlwaysRespond credentials.
Has the tech granted location permissions?
On iPhone: Settings → AlwaysRespond → Location → set to 'Always'. On Android: Settings → Apps → AlwaysRespond → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time. Without 'Always' permission, location only updates when the app is open.
Is the tech actively on a job?
GPS tracking activates when a tech has a job assigned and status is 'En route' or 'On site'. If no job is assigned or status is 'Available', the dot may not appear on the map. Assign them a job and have them update their status.
Check the tech's internet connection
Location updates require a data connection. If the tech is in a dead zone, their last known location will freeze on the map. The dot turns grey when the last update was more than 10 minutes ago.
Have the tech log out and back in
Sometimes the app loses its connection to the server. Have the tech: close the app completely → reopen → log out → log back in. This forces a fresh connection and usually restores location updates within 60 seconds.
