1

Find your AlwaysRespond number

Go to Settings → Phone in your dashboard. Your dedicated AlwaysRespond number is shown at the top. Copy it; you will need it in every step below.

2

iPhone

Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding. Toggle on Call Forwarding, then enter your AlwaysRespond number in the 'Forward To' field. To forward only when unanswered, use conditional forwarding codes instead (see below).

3

Android

Open the Phone app → tap the 3-dot menu → Settings → Supplemental Services (or Calls) → Call Forwarding. Choose 'Forward when unanswered' and enter your AlwaysRespond number.

4

Carrier-specific codes (works on any phone)

These codes work from your dialpad, just dial and press call: • Most carriers: *72 + your AlwaysRespond number (enables), *73 (disables) • AT&T: *21* + number + # (all calls), *61* + number + # (when unanswered) • Verizon: *71 + number (when busy/unanswered) • T-Mobile: **21* + number + # (all calls), **61* + number + # (when unanswered) • Landline: *72 + number + # to enable, *73 + # to disable

5

Choose when to forward

Recommended: 'Forward when unanswered' — you still pick up first when you're available, and the AI only kicks in when you miss it. 'Forward all calls' means the AI answers everything, even when you're free.

6

Test it

Call your business number from a different phone and let it ring through without answering. The AI should pick up within 1 second of the forward activating. The call will appear in your dashboard Calls tab in a few seconds.

Frequently asked

Will my customers know they're being forwarded?

No. From the caller's perspective it just rings normally and gets answered. There's no indication of forwarding.

Can I turn forwarding on and off?

Yes. Dial *73 on most carriers to disable call forwarding, or *72 to re-enable it. You can also set conditional forwarding so it only activates when you're busy or unanswered.

What if my carrier isn't listed?

Call your carrier's support line and ask for 'conditional call forwarding when unanswered' — every major carrier supports it. Or contact us and we'll walk you through it.
